Yukimi

Swedish singer and songwriter residing in Gothenburg, born on January 31, 1982, in Carl Johan, Göteborg, Västergötland. Yukimi Nagano is best known as the lead singer of the group Little Dragon. She was previously also well known for her work in the future jazz scene, where she recorded with artists such as Koop, Swell Session, Sleep Walker, and Jafrosax, among others. After nearly 20 years as the frontwoman and singer of the Gothenburg-based band Little Dragon, Yukimi Nagano made her solo debut in the spring of 2025 with the album. Just as in Little Dragon's multifaceted expression, the music on her solo album moves freely between influences, styles, and genres. R&B, soul, electronica, jazz, funk, and pop are woven together into a highly personal language where skillfulness never stands in the way of playfulness and surprise. This led 'Sten A Olssons Stiftelse för Forskning och Kultur' (the Sten A. Olsson Foundation for Research and Culture) in Gothenburg to decide to award Yukimi a scholarship for 2025, with the reasoning: 'For her curiosity, her artistic courage, and her multidimensional musical openness, which both reflects and transcends our contemporary times.' Yukimi Nagano is the younger half-sister of singer Sumie Nagano. They share the same father, Yusuke Nagano, born in Japan in 1948. While Yukimi’s mother, Joanne Brown, was born in the USA, Sumie has a Swedish-born mother, Mona Gustavsson.
